TOP COP COLLECTION: CHATHAM TWNP. CHIEF
*****
Chatham Township is the number 4 badge in my Top Cop Collection.
I got this a couple years back from a gentleman who had a focus on badges from other States. He wanted to move this badge onto another collector, so I took advantage of his offer to sell and purchased this fine badge. My interest was two fold. One, I lived in this area before retiring in 1999; and Two, I was in the thinking stage of making a Chiefs Collection.
The history of this Chatham Township dates back to Pre-Revolutionary times. It is in Morris County just a few miles South of where General George Washington made his Headquarters after moving off of Long Island and NY
The Township almost circles the much smaller geographically Chatham Borough. Both communities have roughly 10,000 people living in them.
Both Chatham's are on the quiet side. Crime is under control.
The Top Cop display has made a nice home for this badge and a few more. Like all the badges in this display it is under glass and has a great location over my shoulder where I can get a frequent look at it.
I think it is one beautiful piece. It has four reverse blue/gold panels with: Chief, Chatham Township, Police spelled out. In the center is a multi color State Seal.
Bottom line this is a beautiful badge. I am very glad to have it and will keep it safe and displayed in a custom frame. Needless to say, There are two locks securing this collection.
